Know what you're buying before you buy it!
If you are considering a Varitronics® Profinish™
Laminator please take into account the following information:
The Varitronics ® Profinish™ Cold
Laminator is manufactured by Xyron.
Varitronics® simply takes a sticker and puts their name on it. Beware
this laminator is only
a 24" wide laminator while the Xyron 2500
laminator is
25" wide. Xyron is the actual manufacturer of
numerous other branded cold laminators including the
3M®
or Scotch® Brand
LS1050 cold laminator. However, even though they all look alike, and
in the case of the Profinish® laminator 1" smaller in width, the other
brand laminators and their laminate are more expensive than the Xyron
2500.
Also consider Varitronic's®
ProFinish® XL Cold Laminating System. This laminator again
manufactured by Xyron for Varitronics® laminates up to a 42" width.
It accepts two different laminate sets - 24" & 42". But, the
Xyron 4400 cold laminator, which is identical,
accepts three different laminate widths - 25", 38" &
43". And, the laminator and laminate is cheaper than Varitronics®
comparable laminate sets.
Finally consider
this information:
Varitronics ® raised the price of their double sided laminate on
February 1 , 2005 for their Profinish ™ laminator from $199.95 a set to
$239.95 - a $40.00 increase! Ouch! On August 1, 2006
Varitronics
®
again raised their laminate sets by another $10.00 to $249.99 and
their laminators from $1495 to $1995.
Our prices for the Xyron 2500 and laminate refill rolls stayed the
same! |
Remember, its not what you pay today for
your machines, it's what you will pay in the future for the consumables.
Because their laminate sets are proprietary to their systems, the price
increases described above are not that unusual. And, in our opinion,
because you the customer don't have an alternative source, you'll be stuck
paying those prices.
That's why we recommend the Xyron
1255, Xyron 2500 & the Xyron
4400 laminators.
